Lace up your sneakers and join ZERO ? The Project to End Prostate Cancer and GW Medical Faculty Associates?on Sunday, June 17?for the DASH4DAD 4-milerace?in Arlington, VA. A Pacers?Race?Series event, the?race?is part of the Great Prostate Cancer Challenge, America?s premier men?s health event series, taking place in 34 cities in 2012.
?More than 240,000 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer this year alone, including more than 12,500 in?DC, Virginia and Maryland,? said Skip Lockwood, CEO of ZERO ? The Project to End Prostate Cancer. ?The District has the highest prostate cancer incidence rate and death rate in the country and raising awareness is critical.?
The?race?will take place at Pentagon Row in Arlington where runners will have views of the Pentagon and the Air Force Memorial. More than 2,000 participants are expected at this exciting?race, where they will have the chance to take part in the "Tie One On for Dad" competition. ?Making for a great visual, at the one-mile mark runners will slip on a gently used necktie and showcase their best knot-tying skills before continuing the?race.
All participants will be invited to after-party along Pentagon Row to wrap up the run.
Funds raised from the?race?go to prostate cancer research, education, and free testing. ZERO provides comprehensive treatment information to patients, education to those at risk, and free testing to at-risk men around the country. ZERO also works to increase research funds from the federal government to find new treatments and better diagnostic tests for prostate cancer.
