LOS ANGELES (TheWrap.com) - Sony Pictures Classics has snapped up the U.S. rights to Robert Redford's latest film, "The Company You Keep," the studio announced Friday.
A political thriller, "Company" will unspool at two big fall showcases: the Venice Film Festival, where it will premiere out of competition, and the Toronto International Film Festival.
The veteran filmmaker produced, directed and plays a onetime Weather Underground rabble-rouser dodging a journalist who knows about his past.
Also in the cast: Shia LaBeouf, Julie Christie, Terrence Howard, Anna Kendrick, Susan Sarandon and Chris Cooper.
Along with Redford, Nicolas Chartier and Bill Holderman are producing. The film was financed by Voltage Pictures, which is also serving as the film's international sales agent.
"Robert Redford's film is classic storytelling at its best and we are really looking forward to bringing the film to the American audience," Sony said in a statement.
