The Moroccan Students? Union for the Change of the Education System (SUCES) launched a video on YouTube on Oct 15, 2012 calling on students and their parents to participate in a protest scheduled on Thursday, October 18, 2012 to demand a change of the education system, under the slogan ?Bghina Naqraw? meaning we want to study.
The Movement called for marches and sits in all over the Moroccan cities, and for the involvement of all stakeholders, including associations, human rights organizations, political party and trade unions.
The choice of 18 October is not fortuitous as it coincides with ?global Education Strike.?
The ?Global Education Strike? is the first step in creating a unified force of young people around the world, which aims to change education systems ? they believe- have become oppressive and manipulative.
The students? union asks the participants to raise slogans demanding better quality of education, and free, public, scientific and democratic education for all Moroccans, giving opportunities for everyone to access academic institutions without exclusion.
According to their Facebook fan page, ?The students? union for the change in the education system? is a gathering of young Moroccans who aim to act and to discuss concrete solutions to improve the educational system in Morocco.
Thursday?s sit in will take place before the University Campus of Swissi 2 city of Al Irfane, Rabat. The SUCES intends to hand out more than 150 books for free in addition to music and acting performances aiming to sensitize the audience about the problems of the Moroccan education system.
