It depends on where you work. If you are NJ, there are preschool teachers who work for an Abbott Center and they are paid just as much as a teacher in the public school who is teaching Pre-K or K. You will need to have you standard certificate as well, but NJ has it where if you have an undergraduate degree you can then return to school for your post-bacs leading you into the p-3 sector which is becoming a licensed teacher of preschool ? third grade which gives you the range to teach between preschool and third grade. Not sure how other states work, but that is NJ. I almost forgot to mention, you will need mentoring(which is provided by your district), completion of the classes,and a passing score on the praxis exam.
