Richard Pybus has confirmed that he will no longer coach the Bangladesh national team, with his decision influenced by the constant interference from the administrators and failure to receive enough support in terms of implementing his own philosophy into the side. He also cited family concerns as another major reason.
Pybus took charge of the team in May following Stuart Law?s decision to resign from his role and head back to Australia. Under his tenure, the Bengali Tigers took part in an unofficial series in Zimbabwe, before taking a trip to Europe to take on Ireland, Netherlands Scotland.
They further took part in the World T20 but failed to qualify for the next round following defeats in their opening group games against New Zealand and Pakistan.? Bangladesh?s bowling coach, Shane Jurgensen, will be the acting coach for the team?s home series against West Indies.
New Zealand are believed to be in talks with from Sri Lankan spin wizard, Muttiah Muralitharan, to help the team?s spinners as they prepare to battle his former side in the coming week.
Despite recently appointing Shane Bond as their bowling coach, the Black Caps are still concerned over his credentials in helping spinners on the Lankan tracks, which ideally suit spinners. Mike Hesson, their coach, has said that possibility of bringing Murali remains a viable option.
"Obviously Muralitharan lives in Sri Lanka in Colombo and he's someone we've got contacts with," Hesson said."We haven't been able to firm things up but we're also looking into the possibility of another specialist coach.?The Kiwi will play the Lankan Lions in two Tests, five ODIs and solitary T20 from October 30.
Auckland Aces skipper, Gareth Hopkins, said that the team was bitterly disappointed at not making to the semi-finals of the ongoing Champions League T20 after they were beaten by Perth Scorchers in their final group game.
The Aces were in pole position to book their passage to the next round after they had restricted the Scorchers to a gettable 140. However, the batting order failed to rise to the big occasion and was eventually halted on 124.
"But given our position and the belief in the team at the moment, we believed we could make the semis and then the final. We're bitterly disappointed."
