Cancer survivor, running in 266th marathon, makes Dallas Marathon ...

Carol Dellinger described her day as ?a block party on wheels.?

After running in 265 marathons in her lifetime, she deserved to have more than a little fun on No. 266. Especially when three years ago, she wasn?t sure she was going to be alive much longer.

Dellinger, from Spokane, Wash., is a breast cancer survivor. As she came around the bend to the finish, Dellinger said she felt goose bumps and realized how thankful she was.

Her official time was 7:28:10, about an hour slower than usual, but there was no disappointment.

?I felt fine but I was just more in the mood to stop,? Dellinger said. ?I took a million pictures and talked and thanked every volunteer and thanked every police officer I saw on the way. ? I just wanted to kind of reflect on my time alive and this was awesome.?

In the last three years since her diagnosis, Dellinger has run 31 marathons. The Dallas Marathon was her 12th this year.

Also hitting a milestone was Eddie Hernandez, 66, from Rockwall who ran his 100th marathon. Hernandez first ran in the Dallas Marathon ? then called the Dallas White Rock Marathon ? in 1977.
